The best thing about this book, well one of the best things, is the author doesn't make many assumptions about what you already know. Not only with node and sails but even with things like using the command line or cloning a git repository, which are at least covered enough to be able to do the exercises.In addition, the code is copiously commented throughout, not just in the exercises, but also all the code in the Sails.js framework (which is pretty awesome BTW).Great book, highly recommended. FWIW, this is the first review I've ever written...just had to help spread the word....great book, great framework.

Ah, what a delight, thank the publishing gods for this posthumous addition to Mr. Zelazny's legacy. As many times as I've revisited any and all of his stories over the years, always marveling at the sheer command of language and evocation of the world within, I've come away with some new thoughts each time, but to have just one more glimpse into Amber, yeah, it's like Spider Robinson saying he wanted a to read a new Heinlein so bad, he'd go to any lengths, even to writing one himself (Variable Star, also a 5 star read). I tried to ration myself, knowing that as soon as I finished these, 7 stories, I'd have the same longing, like you never get to experience your first love in quite the same way, no matter how many times you revisit it in memory..........Amber never gets old.

I'd read all but the greenwood piece before in Amberzines if I remember correctly but it is nice to read them consecutively in one setting as I no longer have any Amberzines sadly. Roger is one of those few authors who got me in the "soul" like Alfred Bester did. I can't recommend more reading these short stories if you haven't already if you're a Chronicles of Amber fan. Very thankful that these were finally all brought together for an inexpensive price.Makes me want to run a game of Amber Diceless RPG. I swear I probably have twenty various homebrewed and beta versions of this game that I've played since I was in high school decades ago looking at badly xerox'ed copies of the early versions of the rules and later when the two main books came out. Wish that Rebma could have been published along with the other half being the Tir mirrored so as to have two front covers with the ends meeting at the center.I wonder if anyone will ever get the rights to it again? I've heard that the spirit of the game has been carried over to Lords of Gossamer but I've only glanced at it. Nostalgia and the sense of pregnant possibility in what Roger might have made if he'd have lived longer. A sequel to Donnerjack would be on my wishlist after Amber.

Outstanding, but all too fleeting. This short volume recalled all the magic of the original stories. Mr. Zelazny, you are sorely missed.

I am huge fan of Roger Zelazny, but this collection of short stories greatly disappointed me. The only one I truly liked was Prologue to Trumps of Doom. Most of the others felt like sections of the series that were properly edited out or efforts on Zelazny’s part to lay the groundwork for a new Amber series. I would have loved to read a third Amber series, but I found this collection of short stories to be a disappointing tease.

These stories fill in some gaps. Worth the read.Although doesn't really wrap everything up.Wish there was more!RIP Roger

It's Roger Zelazny that's all that needs to be said. Way to short but really, really, really, really, really good.

These tales so nicely fill the gaps in the novel narration! And that style of Zilazny's, I just never get enough of his descriptions.

This is honestly one of the coolest theater history texts I've encountered in a long while. It's beautifully illustrated and and *smart*. It looks like a children's text—and is probably suitable for older, intellectually curious children and pre-teens—but it's incredibly useful in the high school and college classroom, as well. Not only does the book, in a record-few number of pages, provide perspective on Shakespeare's theaters and company, but works to provide a historical and social context for those elements in the greater history of the theater and in 16th-/17th-century London. I recommend this, especially, to any theater instructor looking for good historical visual aids. Also, at MSRP $8 (it was selling on Amazon for $4 when I purchased), you can't go wrong. It's a steal.

This visually stunning book is written for ages 10 and up. I've used this book mostly with older middle school and high school ages. This brief guide starts with the history of drama, but focuses on the Elizabethan period specifically. Though it is short, this book is packed with information and beautiful illustrations. This is the fourth book in the ‘Bloodlands Collection’ by this author that I have read. The other three are “The Little Slaughterhouse on the Prairie,” “The pirate,” and “The Pied Piper.” This story strikes a chord with me, as I seem to remember bits and pieces of this story when I was a youngster.As far as the quality, and the flow, in the writing, I found this to be a bit aggravating. At just 36 pages, and with a sudden ending lacking necessary details, I was much less satisfied with this volume.BLUSH FACTOR No worries here. I choose to rate this book as a good book but one that lacks a certain degree of imitation because of the dryest of its subject matter.!!! It is too strict and breeds contempt!!!!! This book is an object of hate.!!!!!

If you hate those nitty-gritty on how China perfected its dictatorship, you can just skip the first few chapters and jump to the Postscript section where the author predicts China under the leadership of Xi Jinping may become a perfect fascist state. 'China Dream' is going to be the totem of the new ideology, in which individuals cease to exist as an autonomous being and every thing is going to be subsumed in the 'great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation'. In other words, in order to upheld the 'China Dream', everything can be sacrificed, no matter if it is personal freedom, rights or even properties. Ultimately, if waging war accords to the ideology of 'promulgate the China Dream', it is also good for each person's future and destiny. That's why China, according to Professor Ringen, is going to be a force to be feared - a big and powerful country, a strong state, an ambitious and shrewd leader and a commanding ideology. I have found this book has presented objectively, with the support of evidence, the observations and the current situation in today's China, that most mainlanders and even Hongkongers have been already well aware of, but many of them have chosen to turn a blind eye to them or have decided to refuse to accept them by saying that all these have been fabricated by some people with ill intention.This book has helped me clear some doubts as to why the party-state always uses heavy-hand approach to subdue civil right activists, though many of them just employing gentle attitude and mild actions. In addition, it also explains why after 2012 when Xi Jinping took over the helm, he has been tightening control within CCP, in different aspects of the society, and on every level of government, including, recently, applying unprecedented controls on some cornerstones of Hong kong in defiance of strong oppositions from Hongkongers.Lately, he has solidified the political, military and economic powers into his ownself alone as the core of the party-state, making himself comparable with Deng Xiaoping and Mao Zedong. The book also provides a logical reason behind Xi's move to concentration of powers.Though the book's conclusions are critical and maybe objectionable to the pro Beijing Chinese, it helps many understand more why the leaders of the party-state have done what have been done to their countrymen in wake of the era of Mao, which might be, sadly but angrily to say, necessary from the point of view of CCP for their ambition to maintain its perpetual leadership in China.
