While I am not a big fan of the "Dummies" books, this is a book I highly recommend. I have read most of the M&A books available and this stands head and shoulders above them all. The author, a M&A professional, covers many important topics that others pass over e.g., how to contact possible buyers and provides scripts to overcome objections. It is easy to read and loaded with examples.Dr. Stephen Webb

I did not like this book. I felt the focus was too much on the business side of M&A and not enough on the legal side. I think a good M&A book would cover both sides on this topic.

This is a well-written book covering the most important points regarding buying and selling of a business. For anyone considering entering or exiting a business, start here and then hire a professional business intermediary to help you through the complex process.

This book is really well written and does a fantastic job of walking the reader through the various aspects of M&A. While it does a great job illustrating the terms and concepts, the author also does a nice job adding some tips and practical advice along the way. This is a must read for people dealing with M&A.

"Mergers & Acquisitions For Dummies" is a tremendously well-written book that both M&A rookies and seasoned dealmakers would find useful. It covers the very basics, such as the difference between a merger and an acquisition, as well as the nuanced details of a transaction, including the LOI and purchase agreement. The author's deep expertise comes through at various times in the book, as he sprinkles in hints and tips based on his own experience to go along with the basic factual information. You feel like the author is pulling you aside at the negotiation table and whispering in your ear. For example, in Chapter 12, he discusses valuation ranges, expressing that while you can do a lot of work trying to value a company, most sell for 4x-6x EBITDA, and that while it is possible for a business to sell outside of that range, it is not customary, at least not for a middle market transaction. He also offers some helpful commentary on digging around for potential sellers (including some scripts that he has found to be useful in cold calling), and his thoughts on wealth advisors (the dirty secret is that most of the work at the larger firms is done by junior people with little to no experience). While the book is intended to be used as a reference book, where the reader flips to an applicable chapter and reads just that part of the book, I found it to be an interesting read from start to finish. The author's writing style is engaging and light, and he gives plenty of details, but doesn't overwhelm the reader with them. One thing I would note is that a good portion of the book was written from the perspective of an existing business owner looking to make an acquisition or sell his/her business. These parts are not necessarily targeted at the individual or family looking to buy a small business (e.g., restaurant), though much of the information would certainly still be applicable and isn't a reason for individuals/families not to buy the book. Overall, the author does a fine job summarizing a topic that could fill 10 similarly-sized books, and frankly it's one of the best books on this topic that's out there. Business owners would be wise to give it a thorough read before embarking on any significant dealmaking (either buying or selling).

Good place to start if you know nothing about M&A. Reference the book often. It is an easy read with clear examples.

I also read it several times after the initial agreement with the eventual buyer. I found it extremely helpful, easy-to-understand, and packed full of useful checklists and suggestions. I have recommended it to several friends with small businesses including members of my Vistage group (Vistage is an organization of business owners who get together once a month or so to help with each other's issues). The advice was practical and still helpful to me now even though it has been six months since we inked the deal.

This is the only â€œfor dummiesâ€ book I have ever read in a very specific context. It was very informative.

When I look for a book. It has to speak to me in the 1st few pages. Not only did this one speak to me but it made me not want to put it down. Really good book about a person who's dealing with Dyslexia and growing up. To think no one figured out he had dyslexia until he was 14.

Eleven-year-old Josh has a problem: he can't read. Despite the tutors, letters won't come together: "It was like wading through the mud in his rubber boots at low tide." And his parents have split. He's on Vancouver Island with his boat-building dad, and his mother's in Toronto with his older brother Matt. While he's adjusted to living on a schooner on the Canadian west coast, he'd rather be sailing: "In a breeze like that, Nomad would be flying. He could almost taste the salt spray misting across the bow."Then he sees his chance to earn respect from his mockers, especially one girl at the marina. A sailing contest for a crew of two is upcoming. The girl issues him a challenge, and he's confident...until he learns that Matt has to stay at home and go to summer school. The dream vanishes and Josh wonders if life will ever improve.It's tough to write a good YA book. The author needs to master the vocabulary, the sentence structure, the culture, and the interests of that age group. Jenny Watson captures the stubborn but frustratingly helpless nature of a creative young boy with a handicap he can't understand. He can dive to the bottom of the harbour to find lost clamps, and he can rig a boat blindfolded and weather a storm. Facing the sea with bravery is in his blood. But ask him to read to the young kids at the library if he loses a bet, and he's panicking.A good book should instruct and delight, and this one wins stars on both counts. Watson sprinkles the sailing lore with a deft hand, a bit at a time, while handling a suspenseful plot. Toss in a slightly dysfunctional family, and the task gets even tougher. Yet Josh's father and mother are rounded characters, totally believable. They love their kids, but they can't get along. Many will identify with this dilemma.Watson lives in Victoria, and she's captured the ambience of the dockside like a painted locket miniature: "Josh took a deep breath, inhaling the smells of seawater and mud, a hint of pine from the trees that lined the shore, and just the slightest sourness from the mill across the bay." The weekend sailors, those who call their boats home, the hustle and bustle of keeping a vessel in top condition, not to mention the excitement of a race and the safety precautions make the pages come to life. Very disappointed. My boys love Minecraft and own a couple of other Minecraft books. I thought this would be nice to add to their collection, but when it arrived, I was underwhelmed. It was to be a Christmas gift for one of my boys, but after flipping through it, I decided to just add it to the bookshelf and order a better book. We have the one with the Golden Pear on the front, the red stone book, and the one with the Sword (a hardcover book). All have nice, colorful pages and show a lot of neat Minecraft stuff. This is plain white paper with text. That's it. Very boring and unappealing. Not really worth my time to return...save yourself the hassle and get the ones with the colorful pages.

My son earned this by doing extra school work and reading time. I felt sorry for him because it was half the size of the handbooks that his brothers selected and it was taller, so it stood out, was thin, and didn't have the "awe" texture or look of their other books. He looked through it. HE's ASD, so no comments were needed. He set it aside and walked away. I don't feel it was advertised incorrectly, I just feel it was way overpriced for the product and extremely disappointing for someone who worked so hard to earn it.

These are not real Minecraft books they are a bogus invitation. I bought them for my son and he said theyâ€™re like something a 10-year-old could do in 30 minutes. They are very disappointing and I wouldâ€™ve given them no stars if that were possible. Do not waste your money.

Such a disappointment, my 8 year old purchased this book, and is very upset that he wasted $6 on it. The font is huge, the pictures are all black and white, and the information is very basic. I am not impressed, and will be sending it back.

Well, I had to get it for a class, so didn't have a choice in the book. It did what the professor asked. I would actually have recommended that the teacher look into another book, or be more willing to help (a separate issue not related to the book). Some of the content was not well explained, so unless you have a helpful professor or really understand the subject, not the easiest to use.

Since the first edition in 1987, Tom Nagel's "The Strategy and Tactics of Pricing" has been the standard pricing text and an indispensable guide to value-oriented pricing for students and practitioners alike. All the major pricing topics are expertly covered with a good balace between theory and practice. As one very interested in this important topic and about to publish his own pricing book, I can highly recommend this work as there is nothing comparable on the market today.

I took a basic Econ class in college but recently got a job working in a pricing department at a fortune 500 company... Yikes, right? I had to learn about pricing quickly so I would have a framework to discuss pricing with my co-workers (I do the more technical side of reporting, so it's not strictly necessary I understand. But it sure helps :-).I heard about this book via MIT's Open Courseware, where it is used in a grad level class on pricing. As you can imagine, I was intimidated since I'd only ever taken one, basic econ class in college. But I was desperate to learn and this book came highly recommended on just about every forum on pricing I came across.And you know what? I have been floored by how accessible this book is. All of the concepts are neatly laid out, explained thoroughly and given relate-able business cases so you can understand the concepts and their importance to modern business practice. As a result I actually understand what market baskets are, why product differentiation matters to pricing and I'm starting to grasp how to implement new pricing structures in our ever expanding market. The pictures are small and the writing is small. There is not enough detail and clarity to really help you identify the stones with their pictures. Totally disappointing. The size of the pictures of the rock is only one inch by one inch. With several rocks in the same picture you can see how hard any detail for identification is.

An alright little guide. The pictures are to small and some appear to be stock images that can be found elsewhere.

We are moving back to the PNW soon and I bought this for my 7 year old rock hound. Such a fantastic book! Itâ€™s beautiful and loaded with great info.

This book is the perfect size to throw into my pack. Sturdy pages and nice pictures. A great book for beginners on the go.

This book is 11 pages front and back, making 22 pages of the smallest font I've ever seen. My reading glasses needed reading glasses! There is some good info, but pictures are of such poor quality it's hard to make an ID. For example, the jade picture is not really green or smooth like Pacific coast jade.

Why don't we kill the brother for not protecting her from the rapist? How messed up are we that this is even a thought in some cultures. It makes me sad for mankind.

Vivid in description and powerfully written.Not just the heart wrenching true story of one, but of many girls who were abused not just sexually and physically, but also mentally and emotionally by Gaddafi during his rule. Also their struggles after the revolution and failure to enter back into normal society. The lies, the cruelty, the honest truth.

One of the best books I have read.It's so well-written and perfectly projects the feelings and mindsets of all of the people involved In the coverups and these crimes against women but most of all the victims in Lybia who have been left with few options or people to turn to.

I lived in Libya when Ghaddafi took over the country and I absolutely thought he was going to be good for the country . I still liked him 4 years later when I left but after reading this book I now hate this man. He died too easy compared what he did to this young girls. He was a sick human being.

Its a real shocking book.....And when you just think that this dictator just 5 years ago used to gret all the European presidents and prime minister and on our journals was his face smiling with our prime minisietr or president...I just feel so angry that no one could see beyond that sunglasses was viagra and cocaine.....This is a real piece of journalism about modern dat sex slaves and how wars are being won by using sex against women....Dictators and Warring chiefs show their dominance by forcing themselves into the sex slavery and beastly sex....

This painful story shows again how people believe the worst of the innocents held captive by tyrants. Much of the book contains the story of one woman, but her story is followed by information no one might know about in the patriarchal society that blames the innocent for crimes perpetrated against them. Tragic.

Really opened my eyes to who he really was and why he met his doom.

I've never been a history buff (modern or ancient), but to read these events not only through first person point of view, and to have smatterings of Gaddafi's rule in the background made this a compelling story. It's so well told and so tragic at the same time. It's impossible to imagine this world, but Annick has done a remarkable job of recounting the young girl's life events during what should have been her prime years. I could not put this book down, for various reasons, but felt incredibly honoured to know her story.

I am really enjoying this series. It is different from the Last Riders series and I like that. I think in a way this series has more depth. You think these women are either hardcore or a little insane, but deep down they are women that hurt and have insecurities like the rest of us.I loved Jane! In the Last Riders books and Sex Pistonâ€™s book you got the impression she was a royal screw up. She was always eating and the girls were always annoyed with her. In reality Jane was starved for love which basically translated to starving for food. Plus the girl just loves food too. Haha! Jane was a classic people pleaser, when she was asked to jump she said how high. She was desperately trying to get love and acceptance from everyone around her. Little did she know she already had it. There is a part where Jane heard the guys saying they would have to put a bag over her head to sleep with her, or something to that effect. Later in the book Bear explains to Cade what this meant. It was so incredibly sweet (read it then you will understand) in a f****d up kind of way and I wish someone had explained this to her.This story made me cry a few times, and I really liked that we got to see so much growth for Jane is such a short story. In the end I am not completely convinced Cade deserved Janeâ€™s love. I can only hope he works his a** off every day to give her everything she needs.I am excited for the next one I am hoping we get Killyama next.

I read all the other books in these series even though it makes my head hurt trying to figure out which book from what series needs to be read next so that I read the events in order. But I really liked all the other ones, hence me making the effort to figure out what the heck is going on.With that being said, this book had the potential to be a major dramatic tear jerker. Instead it was just flat-some spoilers alert below. It started really intensely, action packed and I kept on reading to see where it was going, but was disappointed, because the second part of the book was so superficially written, it was just blah.So we have Cade, major man-whore and ex Marine, and now, not sure what he is now, some sort of mercenary or something? Basically he gets paid lots and lots of money to rescue stupid people from crazy situations, like Jane (aka Fat Louise) and her sister, Bailey. Bailey had run off to Mexico with her husband who was part of a big drug cartel there. He won't let her come back home. Jane ends up going after her because she feels guilty about her missing-not sure why, cause it's not like she sent Bailey there. Plus, she had always been the push over of her group of friends, it just didn't make sense at all that all of a sudden she decided to go into this crazy situation to rescue her sister. ALL BY HERSELF! She didn't even tell anyone. Her father finds out, and he finds and pays Cade to go and get the two morons out of there. There's this whole part where he finds them, gets them out of there (with some help from Jane's friends too, who had found out about her asinine plan, and came up with a plan-we see the Last Riders here too-that part was good). He also hits on her sister a little bit, even though he had just hit on Jane a little bit too.After all that drama, they come home. And pretty much everything stops. This part of the story is written pretty much like a short version of what it actually happened. Kind of like how I would tell you what the story is about, giving you information, but not really, cause you're gonna see it in the book anyway!!! Long story short, Cade shows up in Jane's hometown looking to join her MC club, which he ends up doing, sleeps with Jane, then the next day, because she was not answering her phone, which she had forgotten in his room, he decides to find himself another woman. She sees that, tells him off, and then we skip about four months later, during which time, he apparently sleeps with every and any woman (other than Jane) that he can get his hands on, she ends up taking a second job to help her druggie mom out because her father couldn't giver her any money anymore, which she was always splitting in between Bailey and her mom anyway. Oh, and we also find out (at the same time as Cade) that she had had a miscarriage. All this was just glossed over, it probably took a couple of pages to get to all that, when it could've been a major part of the plot once they got home from Mexico. After that Cade is trying to win her back, he supposedly doesn't sleep around anymore, another girl shows up and says he had gotten her pregnant, but he says she was lying, and then we don't hear anything more about it.I also thought that there was going to be some big fight with her sister, Bailey. The woman was just bitchy, she was immature and just took advantage of Jane's good heart. She was a little on the slow side too- I mean, you live with a drug lord who is raping women in the house next to the one you live in, you hear them screaming their heads off, but he tells you that that is a Mexican courting ritual of some sort. And you are ok with it, cause hey, he said so and you made some new friends there with the other wives of the drug people there, so you are finally happy. And then your stupid sister dares to show up there and ruin it all for you but telling you what is actually going on there, after you sent your family a text asking for help to get out. But now you're happy and you have a nice social life in the middle of nowhere in Mexico, you are not allowed to come out of the compound or contact anyone outside of it. But how dare your sister ruin your happy marriage like that?! And then you get out of there, you hit on the man your sister is crushing on, then you treat her like poop, you get home and forget to take your drug lord husband off the bank accounts and he ends up stealing all your father's money and now, horror, you have to get a job!!! And, in the meantime, you sleep with every man in sight that will have you. She ends up dead, which was very fitting, but I didn't really care cause by the time she died, I had forgotten she existed. So yeah, I thought there was going to be a little more to the story with Bailey lolThe epilogue was lame. the first half of it is about Jane getting her feelings hurt again by Cade's past actions, which were pointed out by Rock, this other biker who really liked Jane and couldn't understand what she was seeing in Cade. At that point i wasn't really sure what she was seeing in Cade either. The rivalry between Cade and Rock could've been a big part of the story as well, but it only got a few sentences here and there, just to fill some space.Bottom line, the cover of the book was a lot hotter and more interesting than the story itself.

Of course, with Sex Piston & Killyama being the â€œin your faceâ€ type, being the forgotten one is easy. She never had to be the brave one because her friends would stand up for her. After being guilt-tripped by her dad & step-mom about her sister being held against her will in Mexico by her husband, Jane/Fat Louise decided to go try to rescue her sister. But she lied to her friends about where she was going because she didnâ€™t want them to put themselves in harms way.Cade is a former Marine & mercenary and is very skilled at what he does. When Janeâ€™s dad goes to him and offers to pay him almost whatever he wants in order to bring his daughters home safe. At first Cade doesnâ€™t want to, but on top of the money, he sees a picture of Jane and both her lips and eyes draw him in. He knows that it will not be an easy task to complete, especially after finding out that the husbandâ€™s family is part of a large cartel.Jane had some very brave, bad@ss moments, which seemed very out of character for her, but in a life or death situation, some people can rise to the occasion. Not only does she save her own life, her sisterâ€™s life and Cadeâ€™s life, but she also saves other innocent people.Cade has his moments where I really liked him, but he was also a major douche. I donâ€™t think that the book was long enough for Cade to redeem himself. I also felt like this book just skipped scenes that I wanted to see and the entire book was too short. After a major scene & event, the book jumps 4 months in time to another major event/revelation. Then there are more jumps in the story. The characters actually needed to talk about things and work through themI absolutely loved Killyama & the Last Riders in this book. Iâ€™m thinking that Killyama & Train could actually get together, but then would it be in the Last Riders series or the Biker Bitches series.
