I liked the simplicity of this book. I am not in to the scientific parts of the lightroom. I like the process, but I am more excited about the finished product than the journey along the way. This book helped to simplify some things that I could not grasp on my own. Like!

I was very pleased when I read this book. I've always believed its quality not quantity. The book is written so everyone can read it and understand its message. There is nothing more frustrating than having to read and re-read something until you understand the message. To many authors try to be so technical, to impress everyone of their knowledge of the subject, that, they loose their audience. Not here, the information is precise and easy to read and understand.This book gets right to the point allowing the reader to immediately apply the information presented. We want more books like this.

Good book.

I recently purchased 3 books by the same author, Edward Bailey, called, "Photoshop for Photographers", "Photoshop Lightroom: 17 Tips You Should Know", and the 2nd volume companion "Photoshop Adobe Lightroom: 20 Lightroom Lifesaver Tips!". These were all advertised by the author as for the absolute beginner, easy instructions on how to get started in Lightroom and Photoshop CC. These all had very good reviews. I couldn't believe it when I saw the 3 books arrive, they looked like little pamphlets! All three of these books are an absolute waste of money, they do no show you as a beginner ANYTHING about learning the basics of the two programs. Zero instruction on the basics of the programs, no pictures, nothing. In fact, it's even mentioned in the "books" that the author thanks you for "downloading"; that's the format these books by this author should have stayed at, a cheap download. The prices of these books are also a joke, I wouldn't pay more than $5 for all three of them. The "tips" are just disjointed little fragments of what the programs could do. Instead, I found "The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC Book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby at Barnes & Noble. At 576 pages for only $27.49 (compared to over $57 for the pamphlets by Edward Bailey), it's the only book you'll need to learn Lightroom and Photoshop especially as an absolute beginner, and you won't get ripped off by what people are trying to pass of as "books" these days instead.

She conducts long interviews with an elderly woman named Belle Norton, to find out and write about a woman named Rosa Suite, and the "castle" she lived in.Belle was a young lady from Georgia who married and moved to West Virginia in 1910. One day she runs into a woman, older than she, who lives in this "castle" that borders Belle's hard-scrabble farm. This is Rosa, who married a man almost 20 years her senior, after he courted her for five years and finally won her by promising to build her a castle. However, he died before it was completed, so that job fell to Rosa. That expense, along with her lavish entertaining, left her deeply in debt, and she ended up living in a small cottage bordering Belle's property. The two women became close friends.This was a a wonderful story. No rape, no foul language, no bodies being brutally murdered or dismembered. Just a good, "folksy" account of a friendship which occurred 100 years ago. The writing was excellent, and the dialogue flowed beautifully. The main characters, Belle, Rosa, and Allison (another senior at the facility who was quite a character), were all clearly defined.The story was peppered with funny little idiomatic pearls: "You can't tell much about a chicken pot pie till you cut through the crust" when talking about someone's personality. "Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit" and "I'm as anxious as a mama cow with a bucktoothed calf" are two more examples of funny colloquialisms.I so appreciated this book because it's difficult these days to find anything to read that is not rife with serial killers or women cops with attitudes. This was simply a good, interesting, well-written story which made me feel good! Highly recommended!

Great Read!!ROSE'S CASTLE, is another delightful story, by author Deanna Edens, that draws you into the story making you feel as though you are present as the story plays out. This story is one in which you feel like you know the characters personally and experience the many humorous, exciting,scenes along with the very human characters who care for, and take care of one another. The book is so interesting that it is difficult to put down once you have began reading. The author provides very detailed descriptions of places and events which allow the reader to visualize, very explicitly,as they read this book that transports them back in time to the era of "Rosa'sCastle."

Easy to read. Interesting history. I was in the castle and the cabin. Love Belle's sarcastic humor. I wish I could sit on the veranda with Allison, Belle, Mollie and Carolynn for just one afternoon! This is the 2nd book and I'm going for the next.

I enjoyed this book so much!! Like her other books she keeps you turning the page... wanting for more. Love the true life and history of her great stories. I am eager for more!!!

I recommend this book to any one interested in history. A small family history. Interesting in how you can leave a foot print and not know it. Would love to visit.

I've enjoyed many books by Deanna Edens, but this one was of special interest. My mother's ancestors lived in Berkeley Springs and Sir John's Run for many generations. It was able to glean a few facts (the name of the newspaper, Morgan Mercury) while enjoying the fictional story surrounding Rosa Suit.

I was interested mainly because the setting of the story was in WV. It was interesting enough to keep me reading it. I don't always finish a book if it isn't interesting . I would rate this as fair.

Reinhold Messner first climbed Nanga Parbat in 1970 as part of a large and well funded German expedition. It was the first 8000-meter peak for the young climbing superstar who was blowing everybody away with his record breaking unassisted climbs up the hardest faces in the Alps and the Dolomites; a real life Spider-Man. Many of these climbs are documented in Messner's book, The Seventh Grade: Most Extreme Climbing.At Nanga Parbat, the team attempted to reach the summit via the technically challenging Rupal Face which is described as the largest rock and ice face in the world. Without using supplemental oxygen (Messner never used supplemental oxygen for any climb) he reached the summit with his brother Gunther. They were forced to descend on the "easier" opposite side of the mountain (the Diamar Face) because Gunther was in bad shape and was not able to descend the way they came up. During the descent, Gunther was killed in an avalanche and Reinhold nearly went insane looking for him before staggering more dead than alive into the valley below.His descent was the first time Nanga Parbat had been traversed, up one side and down another, although it was done unintentionally. Reinhold suffered from severe frostbite and lost several toes and fingers for the most part ending his career as a big wall climber. This left the world's tallest mountains as the only places he could continue perfect his art. This climb and the subsequent controversy Gunther's death caused is documented brilliantly in Messner's The Naked Mountain.Reinhold Messner quickly became disgusted with the traditional "Expedition Style" of climbing which involves huge numbers of people, carrying huge amounts of supplies up huge mountains, establishing camps and setting fixed lines to prepare for eventual summit attempts. These expeditions were far too expensive and truly limited the attempts he could make on the mountains.He was also eager to seek what amounts to an absolute purity of effort in attacking the big peaks using smaller teams of as few as two carrying their own life support while making quick ascents and descents. His perfection of this "Alpine Style" of climbing reached its culmination on this, the first truly solo climb up any 8000 meter peak. His team included a doctor and a Pakistani liaison officer both who stayed in base camp. From that point it was Messner and the mountain. Many thought he was truly mad to even attempt this type of thing.The book is a complete journal of the Messner's efforts on this climb and of his history on Nanga Parbat. He is very generous with the revelations of where his mind was and his meditative philosophies on achieving an absolute purity of effort in mountaineering; no oxygen, no technology, no fancy tools, basically shelter, food, an ice axe and crampons. He encounters, of all things, an earthquake on the way up which triggered massive avalanches which would have killed him had he been anywhere else than where he was when it shook the earth.After reaching the summit the weather turned on him and his descent was in the midst of an raging snowstorm. It was a single non-stop do or die effort from his bivouac just below the summit where he was being snowed in, straight down the mountain to base camp. The story would be almost too remarkable to believe if it were anyone else but Reinhold Messner telling it.This amazing document was originally written in German and suffers from a dry literary style as a result of the translation and Messner's almost clinical examinations of his condition, his state of mind, and his philosophies of climbing. This dryness is more than made up for through an abundance of stunning photographs, very helpful maps, and absolutely remarkable drama.If you haven't read any other Messner books, this is a good one to start with. I also recommend Messner's All Fourteen 8,000ers which is an outstanding overview of all of the big mountains he climbed on his way to becoming the first human to do it. It is especially good for seeing how Messner, who was already a climbing superstar, becomes something that almost seems more than human. There will never be another Reinhold Messner. He has conquered the Earth, often by himself, and lives to talk about it.I have very much enjoyed this book as I have many others by Messner.

Meh. The book is extremely short, but the illustrations are nice and colorful. However, the "animotion" (the purchase draw for me) is terrible -- the material it's made with is so dark you can really only make out the motion in bright light. The 2-year old nephew liked the illustrations, but overall a disappointment.

This book is appealing especially to little boys who are interested in dinosaurs even at an early age of 2. They like movement while the book is read to them. They soon can tell you which dinosaur is which.

My grandchildren loved this book. I bough one for my 3 year old grandson and one for my 1 year old granddaughter. Very innovative

I'll admit I was skeptical when I got this. However, I have now made five of the dishes from this book and each one has been better than the last: the Spicy Brussels Sprouts (yummy), the Risotto with Peas and Greens (very creamy despite using no dairy), the Chickpea and Tuna Salad (fresh and delicious), the Turkey Meatballs (savory), and the Crazy Good Fish Tacos (amazing). What I love about these dishes, besides the fact that they are very clean, is that they are very easy to modify. For example, the Chickpea and Tuna salad calls for arugula, and we didn't have any in the fridge, so I substituted spinach. Delicious. And the Spicy Brussels Sprouts-- Gwyneth's recipe calls for fish sauce, which my husband hates. So I left it out. No problem, still yummy. I also tried adding pine nuts to the risotto, and it was excellent. So instead of using this book verbatim, I'm using it more as a guideline of how to combine ingredients in new and creative ways. It's working for my husband and me. The only downside of this book is that the descriptions of the dishes are pretty pretentious (e.g. she calls arborio rice a "beautiful grain", but it's tolerable as long as the food comes out well). I'm posting photos of the fish tacos, and the garbanzo/tuna salad and also risotto and peas.

I'll start out by stating I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2009. I asked my gastro if it was from food, at that time the doctors didn't know. On March 18, 2013 I tried an elimination diet. Wow. I cannot eat the following; gluten, dairy, soy, and eggs. In 2015 I was informed from a different doctor they now know dairy and gluten is not good for people with Crohns and Colitis. I also stay away from GMOs and buy organic as much as possible. I had a colonoscopy July 2017, no active Chrons and I do not take meds. I recognize this is not the case for some people.I purchased this book because I'm tired of making bland, same old food. I've already made a few recipes and they've been great! Her book is GF and DF. There are some soy ingrediants. I simply swap for almond or cashew substitutes. I made the Old Bay Ranch dressing. It's the bomb! Also made a soup, olive chicken, and the Sweet Potato & Five spice muffins. I attached the recipe with my notes. I couldn't find the five spice powder, looked it up and made substitutions of four spices that equaled 1 1/2 tbsp.Definitely worth the money! I'll use this for many years! Don't hesitate! Buy it.

If I could give this 4.5 stars, then I would. The recipes we have tried are delicious, but there are quite a few ingredients that the average cook does not have and would have to hunt down at specialty stores (and they are typically $$$). Also, if you could get over the fact that there are nearly as many photos of GP as the actual recipes, you’d love this book. She might be a bit extreme in her diet and lifestyle regime, but dang, that lady can cook! And she gives recipe credit where credit is due, which is great. I also love that every single ingredient packs both a nutritional and flavorful punch.So in a nutshell, it’s wirth getting if you are willing to spend the extra money on ingredients.

About 8 months before my wedding me and my husband basically ate almost exclusively from this book and worked out. I was very pleased with the results. I swear by this book. Whenever we want to lose a few inches we always say "Time to go gwennie". The chickpea cauliflower mustard dish is to die for. There is even a gluten free guilt free fried chicken recipe.

I have her other cookbook, It's All Easy, which I also frequently use. Both are great resources with easy, healthful, tasty recipes that don't require a lot of expensive or hard to find ingredients (unless you live in the boondocks). I have made nearly every single recipe in both books.

this is looonggg overdue (like 2 years ha) but i'm only writing this review because i can't believe that everyone did not give this 5 stars! I own WAY too many cookbooks and most of them (after I try a few recipes that end up looking great and tasting meh) end up gathering dust on them - i'll peruse them, trying too make something but often the recipes are just too trendy (who needs another beet salad or kale chip recipe) or are supposedly healthy but casually have like 5 lbs of raw cashews per serving (i'm half-asian and didn't grow up with nuts galore, so i have trouble feeling great after eating such foods). so, i totally guffawed when i first found out gwyneth authored a cookbook - she's a bit out of touch with us normal "commonfolk." however, i LOVE this cookbook - it is by far the most used cookbook book i have owned - it's all splattered with oil and dog-eared. i haven't honestly made one recipe that wasn't amazing, and i'm not the best of cooks (ha, i'm a struggler in the kitchen! just an aspiring cook). but, really - i end up making her recipes on weeknights when I want something quick and delicious and I'm tired to forking over way too much $$ for regretful whole foods/trader joes ready-to-go (well, i still do that when i'm super lazy). i don't find the recipes boring or flavorless at all! i think if you focus on the fact that she co-authored it with cool chic julia turshen, you'll let yourself love this cookbook!

My favorite book of hers, great low sugar ideas and good recipes-not a bunch of fried junk. This is my favorite book of hers, my favorite recipe is the Vietnamese Salad-it tastes like its from a high end restaurant!

I am really enjoying the recipes in this cookbook! Partically the healthy desserts - anything berry crumble is a crowd pleaser and the banana ice cream -- both which are easy to make! As well as the recipes for kids - healthy chicken fingers.

This author never seen to amaze me. The story grabs your attention from the beginning to the end. The storyline is well developed. Characters were introduced and had enough information given on them to understand why they were in the story. Vampires in the African American community. From the past to the present. I'm wondering who's watch the Dark Prince while he's becoming careless. I can't wait to read part 2.

Yo this book was so good before I could finish pt.1 I went a download pt.2. What does that tell you, awesome book. Prince is off the chain, felt pretty bad for Darryl. He was a good guy over all, 1968.... Katrina will she catch up with Prince? Butts knew better, Prince thought he was buggin. Claude got what he deserved lol lol.

A crazy page turner, I couldn’t put it down it was fast paced, extremely believable, relatable and delicious. Can’t wait for part two. I love the way Sa’id Salaam writes he’s gifted in the way he tell the stories you could actually visualize the scenes in the books. I’m waiting on the movie.... Great Job!!!

I love this author!! At first I wasn’t sure about reading it being about a vampire, but it was off the chain!! Ready for part 2!!

Not one usually for the supernatural, vampires and such. But since it's from one of my favorite authors, I gave it a shot. I really enjoyed the storyline and could follow it. Can't wait to read part 2. A damn good read!
