Meh. The book is extremely short, but the illustrations are nice and colorful. However, the "animotion" (the purchase draw for me) is terrible -- the material it's made with is so dark you can really only make out the motion in bright light. The 2-year old nephew liked the illustrations, but overall a disappointment.

This book is appealing especially to little boys who are interested in dinosaurs even at an early age of 2. They like movement while the book is read to them. They soon can tell you which dinosaur is which.

My grandchildren loved this book. I bough one for my 3 year old grandson and one for my 1 year old granddaughter. Very innovative

I'll admit I was skeptical when I got this. However, I have now made five of the dishes from this book and each one has been better than the last: the Spicy Brussels Sprouts (yummy), the Risotto with Peas and Greens (very creamy despite using no dairy), the Chickpea and Tuna Salad (fresh and delicious), the Turkey Meatballs (savory), and the Crazy Good Fish Tacos (amazing). What I love about these dishes, besides the fact that they are very clean, is that they are very easy to modify. For example, the Chickpea and Tuna salad calls for arugula, and we didn't have any in the fridge, so I substituted spinach. Delicious. And the Spicy Brussels Sprouts-- Gwyneth's recipe calls for fish sauce, which my husband hates. So I left it out. No problem, still yummy. I also tried adding pine nuts to the risotto, and it was excellent. So instead of using this book verbatim, I'm using it more as a guideline of how to combine ingredients in new and creative ways. It's working for my husband and me. The only downside of this book is that the descriptions of the dishes are pretty pretentious (e.g. she calls arborio rice a "beautiful grain", but it's tolerable as long as the food comes out well). I'm posting photos of the fish tacos, and the garbanzo/tuna salad and also risotto and peas.

I'll start out by stating I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2009. I asked my gastro if it was from food, at that time the doctors didn't know. On March 18, 2013 I tried an elimination diet. Wow. I cannot eat the following; gluten, dairy, soy, and eggs. In 2015 I was informed from a different doctor they now know dairy and gluten is not good for people with Crohns and Colitis. I also stay away from GMOs and buy organic as much as possible. I had a colonoscopy July 2017, no active Chrons and I do not take meds. I recognize this is not the case for some people.I purchased this book because I'm tired of making bland, same old food. I've already made a few recipes and they've been great! Her book is GF and DF. There are some soy ingrediants. I simply swap for almond or cashew substitutes. I made the Old Bay Ranch dressing. It's the bomb! Also made a soup, olive chicken, and the Sweet Potato & Five spice muffins. I attached the recipe with my notes. I couldn't find the five spice powder, looked it up and made substitutions of four spices that equaled 1 1/2 tbsp.Definitely worth the money! I'll use this for many years! Don't hesitate! Buy it.

If I could give this 4.5 stars, then I would. The recipes we have tried are delicious, but there are quite a few ingredients that the average cook does not have and would have to hunt down at specialty stores (and they are typically $$$). Also, if you could get over the fact that there are nearly as many photos of GP as the actual recipes, you’d love this book. She might be a bit extreme in her diet and lifestyle regime, but dang, that lady can cook! And she gives recipe credit where credit is due, which is great. I also love that every single ingredient packs both a nutritional and flavorful punch.So in a nutshell, it’s wirth getting if you are willing to spend the extra money on ingredients.

About 8 months before my wedding me and my husband basically ate almost exclusively from this book and worked out. I was very pleased with the results. I swear by this book. Whenever we want to lose a few inches we always say "Time to go gwennie". The chickpea cauliflower mustard dish is to die for. There is even a gluten free guilt free fried chicken recipe.

I have her other cookbook, It's All Easy, which I also frequently use. Both are great resources with easy, healthful, tasty recipes that don't require a lot of expensive or hard to find ingredients (unless you live in the boondocks). I have made nearly every single recipe in both books.

this is looonggg overdue (like 2 years ha) but i'm only writing this review because i can't believe that everyone did not give this 5 stars! I own WAY too many cookbooks and most of them (after I try a few recipes that end up looking great and tasting meh) end up gathering dust on them - i'll peruse them, trying too make something but often the recipes are just too trendy (who needs another beet salad or kale chip recipe) or are supposedly healthy but casually have like 5 lbs of raw cashews per serving (i'm half-asian and didn't grow up with nuts galore, so i have trouble feeling great after eating such foods). so, i totally guffawed when i first found out gwyneth authored a cookbook - she's a bit out of touch with us normal "commonfolk." however, i LOVE this cookbook - it is by far the most used cookbook book i have owned - it's all splattered with oil and dog-eared. i haven't honestly made one recipe that wasn't amazing, and i'm not the best of cooks (ha, i'm a struggler in the kitchen! just an aspiring cook). but, really - i end up making her recipes on weeknights when I want something quick and delicious and I'm tired to forking over way too much $$ for regretful whole foods/trader joes ready-to-go (well, i still do that when i'm super lazy). i don't find the recipes boring or flavorless at all! i think if you focus on the fact that she co-authored it with cool chic julia turshen, you'll let yourself love this cookbook!

My favorite book of hers, great low sugar ideas and good recipes-not a bunch of fried junk. This is my favorite book of hers, my favorite recipe is the Vietnamese Salad-it tastes like its from a high end restaurant!

I am really enjoying the recipes in this cookbook! Partically the healthy desserts - anything berry crumble is a crowd pleaser and the banana ice cream -- both which are easy to make! As well as the recipes for kids - healthy chicken fingers.

Yo this book was so good before I could finish pt.1 I went a download pt.2. What does that tell you, awesome book. Prince is off the chain, felt pretty bad for Darryl. He was a good guy over all, 1968.... Katrina will she catch up with Prince? Butts knew better, Prince thought he was buggin. Claude got what he deserved lol lol.

A crazy page turner, I couldn’t put it down it was fast paced, extremely believable, relatable and delicious. Can’t wait for part two. I love the way Sa’id Salaam writes he’s gifted in the way he tell the stories you could actually visualize the scenes in the books. I’m waiting on the movie.... Great Job!!!

While I have gained some valuable insights from reading this book, I keep waiting for the "how to" information. There is so much philosophy and history in this book, which while interesting, is not particularly helpful if you're looking for explicit instructions for working with a well-adjusted dog. If your dog has issues, you'll probably learn a lot about your own behavior, but if you're just looking to train a puppy, this isn't the right book.

Fantastic, long-awaited book from Cesar, the dog-mind-reader! As the new owner of a 6-month-old puppy I needed guidance. I went to several dog "obedience" schools for observation and saw some really inhumane and aggressive stuff. I also spoke to a "trainer" who hates Cesar Millan which was quite disconcerting (I observed her graduation day and all three dogs were out of control, go figure. Ironically one of her client's husband trains the dog Cesar's way and the dog is "better behaved with him." Wow, shocker. Not.Anyway, Cesar is my go-to for anything and everything dog. He knows his stuff! This book is great as he admits he's not a trainer per se he provides great insight to all of the different training methods available so dog owners can make an informed decision on which training they want to pursue.Highly recommend!

I'd highly recommend this book for those who intend on raising their dog by honouring it's species.Cesar & Melissa have done such a great job detailing training tips motivated by dog instinct and common sense that I can't help but think that their advice is the best and most effective way towards a harmonious life with your dog.What's more is that opposing and alternative techniques are included in this read, and it helped me understand that Cesar's Rules may not always be what work, or what some dog owners may not be comfortable with.I enjoyed the storytelling aspect which allowed me to visualize how to train, and also the informative/scientific sections which supported the idea of "animal, species, breed, name" theory.Overall, a great, easy read with valuable guidelines.

This is the fourth book written by Cesar Millan including Be The Pack Leader, Cesar's Way, and Cesar Millan's Short Guide to a Happy Dog that I own. All of his books are excellent. They are all written in simple and easy to understand language. This book goes more into training and I particularly enjoyed the off-leash techniques. One thing that I particularly respect about Cesar is that he keeps an open mind and is willing to listen to other dog trainers and their methods even if he doesn't necessarily agree with them. Just about any dog owner can get something out of Cesar's books whether you are a novice or highly experienced.

Great book! You have to read this to understand dog Psychology before you even think of raising a puppy. This is not a "how to train your dog to do stupid pet tricks" kind of book. It will guide you to raising a very well mannered dog that is a pleasure to live with.

The majority of this book is Cesar telling stories about how great he is and how many traumatized dogs he brought back from the brink. That's all well and good.. and kudos to him for being the 'dog whisperer', but it isn't the kind of thing most dog owners or future dog owners are looking for.I was looking for some basic information about interacting, teaching, and training my puppy... and that may well be contained therein, but it wasn't obvious enough to me. Sure, I pulled out a few helpful hints but nothing worth the time and money invested in the book.If you are looking for a book filled with anecdotes and stories, then this may be for you. Or maybe if you enjoy the Socratic method.. I just wanted a reference guide, or a how to... and this wasn't it.

Loved this book! Have always enjoyed Cesar Millan's TV shows as well as his books. Believe wholly in his methods; have used many of his tips with my dogs & am always amazed at the results that we are able to achieve by patiently following through with theories suggested by him. Many of his books do seem to have a lot of the same data in them but I wouldn't let that stop me from enjoying several. His methods are less about the traditional "training" methods that anyone can obtain from a simple beginner puppy or dog training class & more about developing that bond with your dog that will allow for respect, manners & most importantly boundaries & limits with your dog. By establishing these very important areas, you'll hopefully never have to deal with all the bad behavior that comes from a confused relationship with your dog where all he/she has ever had is affection and/or moments of frustration.I have 2 dogs raised from 8 weeks using his methods & constantly have people making comments regarding how well behaved they are. Having a Vizsla & a Weimaraner, 2 traditionally high strung breeds, walking calmly beside me, with perfect manners gets noticed. They are loved so dearly, but they also know who is the boss, me! a soft spoken gentle southern woman that has never raised my voice to them or to my children, as it's not necessary.Many don't seem to like Cesar or his methods; but I for one can say that he makes more sense than any other trainer or book I read before I decided to become a dog parent; I even used his latest ideas regarding which pup to choose without even knowing it. I was just drawn to the quieter lower energy pup at the back of all the others clamoring for attention.Even if you mix his ideas with traditional puppy training, give it a chance; you won't regret it!

This guy makes SO much sense. I love that he teaches the underlying principle that enables us to help our dogs with such a broad spectrum of problems. Reading this and watching his shows, together comprise a wonderful training package.Cesar is SO obviously a sensitive loving wonderful man. Those who hatefully denigrated him are jealous cruel zealots.

I am in my senior years and one of the many things on my “bucket list” was learning how to play a few musical instruments. So far I have tried the (Kazoo), Ukulele, flute, and harmonica. I can play numerous songs with the harmonica and thought taking up the drums would be a fun thing to do. After purchasing some drum sticks and a striking pad I took some free lessons on line. I also purchased this very informative 282 soft cover book (The complete Idiot’s guide to Playing drums second edition by Michael Miller) which also includes an audio CD exercises and songs. I purchased it on Amazon for a bargain price.This text actually covers the subject in great detail and is organized into five parts. Part one (Let there be drums!) explains the positive and negative aspects of learning how to play the drums. The second part (Bang the drum slowly: snare drum basics) deals with learning the basics of reading music, how to grip your sticks and other material. The third (You got the beat: drum basics) part further explores different drum playing methods. The fourth part (Wipe out! Advanced Drum set techniques) covers some advanced drum playing techniques. The final part (Drummers rule! Drummers speak) has numerous interviews’ with some famous drummers. There are also two appendixes.It is essential to emphasize, and the author points this fact out; in order to really learn the drums you also need a good hands-on instructor to get the most out of this book. Since I only intend to practice the drumming methods for my own personal enjoyment rather than for more ambitious goals, I found this to be a fantastic basic guide with combined with me taking free on line lessons in drumming technique.If you are presently taking lessons this wonderful book can help guide you in understanding the essential basics of drumming.Rating: 5 Stars. I like the content, flow and presentation. In spite of the title (which as you know is just a marketing thing, been around a long time), this book is written for SMART folks who are looking for a complete guide to getting started with drums. Lot of info on different kinds of drums, advice on how to select them, what you need to get started, even if your budget is limited. He walks through everything from how to set up your drum(s), how to hold the sticks (traditional or matched grip), how to read music. All that before you get to the actual exercises. The audio CD is great because it has all the exercises, so don't worry if reading music is new to you. It's actually pretty easy, especially at first when you're only playing the snare. All the notes are on the same line, so all you have to do is get the rhythm. I play the CD through my electronic drum set, when practicing drums, or into my bass amp for a backing track. I'm still working through the exercises, got a long way to go, but already know this book will take me a far along my journey.

At a later stage in life (31) I decided I wanted to pickup an interest that I had in high school but never fully explored. So I started taking drum lessons. My instructor charged $50 an hour but he taught me as if I already knew a lot about drumming. To his credit, he was a studio instructor and was used to critiquing "real" drummers in bands. I got to a point where his teaching style was simply incompatible with my knowledge level, and it was frustrating to both of us. So I stopped taking lessons, and got this book.This book continues to teach me everything I wanted to know but didn't have time to ask my instructor. It filled in the gaps that probably would have taken dozens of expensive lessons. I am the kind of person who has to know everything about something in order to learn it, I can't just "go with the flow" and learn the bare minimum while being ignorant to a lot of details.If that's how you are, then this book is for you. This book outshines its own "idiot's guide" series, as it should stand on its own merits.You will not regret this book, if you are truly interested in learning drumming in a beginner friendly but complete way.I plan to go back to the instructor after I'm done with this and see if he's still useful to me afterward.

This book seems pretty good. The description says it comes with an audio cd which is essential. You can practice the exercises, but unless you know how its supposed to sound, you can be reinforcing something that is incorrect.The book I received said you have access to online audio files but there is no link to a site that you can access them. There is an appendix a listing of audio files but still no link. I looked throughout the book and if there is a link it is very well hidden. I also searched the web and could not find anything. I will be returning this one as it is not helpful without the audio files.

Author has little information on electronic drums yet steers the beginner clear.Does not seem to value the fact that practice features, ability to easily record and ability to control volume should be a bigger factor for starting drummers and drummers that have those pesky neighbors.Electronic are not equal to Acoustic in most ways, yet the positives they do offer could have been better represented.

I have been playing for over 15 years... not that that truly means much, but i like to think that i am pretty well trained. I give lessons, do studio sessions, play in multiple groups with a broad range of diversities, etc. With that being said, this book has really brought me back to my foundation! As a long time percussionist, I have really developed my own style and sound. However, this book has successfully reacquainted me with a number of things that I have either forgot about or just simply missed in my early development stages. As i have worked through this book on my own and with my students, i have been surprised at how easy it is to follow! This book was truly written for a beginner to understand each aspect of "playing" or a drummer stuck in his ways like myself to brush up on some old tricks! Recommended for every level of playing!
