Over all, this is a great review for the ICND1. It does assume you have a significant amount of knowledge on the ICND1 topics, so I recommend using this book as at least a secondary source just before taking the exam. Anthony Sequeira and Keith Barker are some of the best trainers out there and did a great job focusing on the right topics. The Cramsheet and practice exams were also great resources.This book, combined with the OCG, the CBTNuggets ICND1 videos, and many hours in my own hardware lab made passing this exam a breeze.

This is the first Exam Cram book I have ever purchased. I purchased this in the hopes that it would cover the basics of what the Cisco/ PearsonVue textbook went for page after page about. Do not get me wrong, this book by itself will not elevate you to a point where you can pass the Cisco 100-105 Exam alone. You do still need to read the textbook as much as possible. I however find that the straight, no nonsense topics that comprise the Exam Cram book is to my liking. I swear, the publishers of these textbooks require the authors to pen a minimum word count on every chapter or something, thus I am supplied with information that goes well beyond the task at hand, but does little to actually enhance the understanding of the core subject matter. If you are like me, and of average intelligence, you will benefit from a book like this to compliment the information that is found in the textbook. This book also supplied me with the PearsonVue software practice test, which has been a great benefit to me. Buy this book, you will not be disappointed!

With minimal experience and the equivalent of a network+ level background in networking, I passed by studying this for ~50 hours. There were some errors (I counted less than 10), but the book overall is still the best densely-packed study resource you're going to find. None of the errors seemed to impact my exam performance.There were a few areas not covered well in the book on my exam.Overall I would buy it again, but recommend this book as a cram rather than the primary study resource.

This was my primary study material for ICND1 and I passed the test easily. The fold-out cheat sheet card is nice. I wish they had one of these for ICND2, because the official study guide is such a slog to get through. At any rate, this is an excellent resource ICND1 and I recommend it to anyone studying for the exam.

This book was one of 3 that helped me study for and pass my CCENT test, and now I am on to part 2 of the CCNA certification. If you are studying for the CCNA test, this is a book to have in your library.

What a great help this was...definitely worth the $$. I failed the exam twice before I finally got this book...I wish I had it from the beginning.

Easy to read, four free practice exams included, perfect for the CCENT. 6-12 months of basic networking on Cisco hardware recommended. I used this book and several free subnetting and practice testing sites I found online (search "ccent practice exams"), plus Laz's ICND1 video course on Udemy to pass the exam.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I took a few classes and went through the CiscoPress ICND1 CCENT book before ordering the ExamCram. This book takes you through all the key topics for the exam and strengthens the areas you struggle the most. I highly recommend this book for anyone that signed up for their CCENT exam.

In my anatomy class my teacher said i HAD to read this book. But don't read if someone you know has recently passed or if this kinda stuff bothers you. Take it lightly and humorous.

Stiff: The Curious Life of Human Cadavers is an example of a morbid topic turned into a page turning and ironically uplifting read. Stiff is very informative on the history and uses of cadavers while also providing entertainment through Roach’s unique style of writing. Additionally, the book contains numerous gory stories about blood and death, but the real meat of the book is in Roach’s main point of the history and uses of cadavers. She uses real examples of scientists and researchers performing horrific operations on human remains in order to learn the anatomy of our complex species. The chapters are deliberate and in depth and they address a wide range of topics from impact studies for car safety to human composting as a new means of disposal. Roach is additionally accommodating enough to include informative footnotes in places where the subject deviates from common knowledge. One of the best things about this book, besides just the mere content, is the witty style in which Roach employs. She seamlessly integrates jokes and humor into her writing of dead people without being the least bit disrespectful, in my opinion. To make its case, Stiff appeals to both medical interests in the surgeries described and to historical ones in its ample amount of sources on how humans first discovered how our anatomy was designed. The prominence of death in the book however does not lower its accomplishments by any means. If anything, death and dying opens up a new conversation of what to do after we die. The only piece of cautionary advice I have is that certain parts are a bit too bloody and gory, which may lead to sensitive readers not being able to read every page. To oversimplify, Stiff is one of a kind and can be thoroughly enjoyed no matter what medical expertise one has. While prior knowing of the book’s anatomy knowledge is useful in understanding the kind of value it has, it can be advantageous for a multitude of audiences.

Having read Mary Roach’s newest book, Grunt, in which she talks about the science of keeping soldiers alive, I decided to read her first one, Stiff, for two reasons. One was to see how much she’d changed as an author, but two – and the bigger reason – was a fascination with the subject. Stiff‘s subtitle is The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers, and the book is about exactly that: what happens to our remains after we die? Like she did with Grunt (and, I’m presuming, all of her books), Roach divides the book into independent chapters, each focusing on different aspects. There’s the bodies that end up in mortuary schools, as well as those that end up dissected by medical students. There are cadavers used as crash testers, those that end up at the Body Farm (where decay is studied, among other things), those that are used to help understand airplane crashes…and those that were used to understand what happened to Jesus and others who were crucified. And there’s much more to be found here, including bodies as compost, as art, and more.It’s a fascinating subject, and one that put Roach on the map – and having read the book, it’s not hard to see why. Done wrongly, the book could seem insensitive, ghoulish, or just depressing. But Roach celebrates these cadavers, reminding the reader just how much has been gained from this research and just how important these bodies have been to not only medicine, but to our society as a whole. At the same time, she never shies away from the discomfort people feel; indeed, one of the most compelling threads in each chapter is discussing with the various people she meets how they manage to maintain a proper emotional balance when they’re working with the dead all the time.Roach is more of a presence in Stiff than she is in Grunt; it feels like more of a first book, and something she might grow away from as she went. But that also feels like a key part of why the book works; after all, death is a fundamentally personal event, and there’s little way to read Stiff and not spend time thinking about what you would want done with your own remains, be it cremation, burial, donation, or more. And Roach builds her own debate into the book, concluding the book with a chapter that finds her pondering what to do with her own remains, having done all these studies and researches into our possible fates.But lest that sound too heavy, Stiff is every bit as engaging and fun as you would hope from Roach’s reputation. Her digressive footnotes and odd asides are still evident, her willingness to ask questions no less charming, and her ability to bring a light tone to even heavy subject matters no less welcome. More than that, she finds depth and thoughtfulness to discuss beyond what you would expect, to the point where you get the impression that she could write a whole second book about bodies and never run out of things to say. That she does all this while being incredibly informative, demonstrating a gift for conveying complex things quickly, and managing to even tell stories, is just testament to her skills as a writer, and the deservedness of her reputation.

Have you ever wondered what happens to the body when it dies? Or how cadavers donated to science are used? Have you ever wondered if embalming keeps your body from ever decaying? These are just a few of the questions covered in this book.I absolutely love Mary Roach’s writing style! She’s hilarious without being disrespectful, and I can’t imagine anyone being able to write about this subject as well as she does. She keeps the reader engaged and asks the questions we are all curious about. . .well at least the questions I was curious about. This was a fascinating and at times a disturbing read. If you get nauseous easy this may not be the book for you. This may also not be the book for you if you are an animal lover. There are several sections that discuss experiments on animals – the same or similar experiments that are being done on cadavers – that was very difficult for me to read.

We recently visited the Walter Anderson museum and read his wife's book, which was great. We wanted some more info on Walter and bought this one. Very disappointed that it's a children's book and not too many illustrations from Walter. We returned it.

A good overview of the artist's life written in a way that children can enjoy it. I gave it to a friend who is a middle school art teacher.

Great book for my 8 year old nephew! His mom and I read it first as we are familiar with the artist and have visited and revisited the W. Anderson museum in Ocean Springs.

This is a beautifully told story about a person who walked outside of the definition of what most seem to characterize as "normal" life.... Walter Anderson marched to his inner drummer and left the world a very special legacy ! This is a nicely told story that adults as well as children should enjoy reading, and I think the pictures capture the essence of the man.

I recently visited the Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs, Mississippi and became enchanted by the artist's life story. This book is a lovely, heartwarming tribute to a man whose childlike wonder and joy of the natural world was so vividly captured in his art and in the way he lived his life.

Can't wait to read it

This was an assigned book for my 4th grader and she loved it. Be warned that the end of the book is extremely sad and my daughter was really upset. I wish now I would have read it ahead of time so I could prepare her for it.

This was a book I read to my 3rd graders as a read aloud. As I read the last few paragraphs I nearly broke down into tears in front of my students. You could hear a pin drop in my classroom. I had to stop and pause for a few minutes before I could go on. When I finally finished the story a few of my children had tears in their eyes, but they held it together better than I did. What a heartfelt story!! We truly enjoyed it!

My grandson had to read the Stone Fox for his summer reading project. He needed the paper version as they will be using for school. The book came two days after ordering and he started reading it right away. The book is full of details about the boy and his dog, it gives great insight into the way people live that may not be as affluent as others. It is sad but true to the way of the world and how things work out sometimes. Good book

My daughter is in 3rd grade -- her teacher was reading this book out loud to the class, and she loved it so much that she had to order a copy to keep for herself. She says they finished the book just today, and the class CHEERED when the teacher said that they could read extra long to finish the story.

My 10-year-old nephew recommended this book to me. It is so authentic and such a well-told story. I bought a class set with my own money for my students because I wanted to share it with them and we cried together as we read it. I love that Gardiner didn't bend over backwards trying to make it politically correct. He depicted the true culture of the time and subtly showed racism without naming it, leading the young readers to their own thoughts.

I have three copies of this book in my library. They are always checked out by 3rd - 5th graders. They really seem to enjoy it. It is a 4.0 Accelerated Reader level book. It reminds me of the story White Fang or The Call of the Wild. There is dog racing, and tragedy. It made me cry. The dog races causes the boy's dog to die. It was just too much for him, his heart burst. The good in humanity wins as the boy whose dog died giving his life for the family is allowed to win the race walking his dead dog across the finish line. There are so many good life lessons in this book. Read with a box of tissues.

My 9 year old daughter loves this book. I haven't read it yet but she started reading it in her classroom. I ordered it for her for Christmas since she loves it so much.

Love the Iditarod; use this book with the boys I teach to read. They have loved it over the years. The fact that the story has a little truth to it makes it all the more enticing. It holds the attention of the most ADHD young man. Little Willie and Grandpa become family friends. The death of Little Willie's dog Searchlight brings tears to the toughest boy.

I teach a course on business and finance, and it's for master's level students in public relations. I've used this textbook for several years in both the face-to-face classroom setting and online, and it's been outstanding in both venues! Every semester, students rave about the textbook; the adjective, awesome, has come up a number of times! One student told his friends and coworkers about Finance for Nonfinancial Managers; he described the book's approachability and ease of understanding -- and said "there is literally a waiting list to borrow it from me after the class!"Gene Siciliano breaks down complicated concepts into bite-size chunks. Students who were totally intimidated about business and finance at the beginning of the semester said they felt comfortable and confident by the end. This textbook is a perfect guide for this class, but I really it's relevant to anyone, from the college student to anyone in the workforce who wants to build their financial IQ. I'd give the book a six-star rating (but only five are allowed!)

Mr. Siciliano does a great job of explaining very complicated and sometimes dry subject matter in a understandable and easy way. Dare I say he even makes it fun, with his sense of humor too. For example, he uses a hypothetical example throughout the book called the Wonder Widget Company. You might know that the balance sheet contains both assets and liabilities? But at the bottom of the assets is a catchall category called, "cleverly", Other Assets! In another section, in Chapter 12, The Annual Budget, he titled "Tools for Telling the Future: Budgets, Forecasts, Projections, and Tea Leaves"! Of course this is serious subject matter, but Gene Siciliano writes with a flair and whether this is required reading for class or you are looking for an edge in understanding accounting reports, I would highly recommend this book. Interesting book.. for the price it is a good to have! It gave me some reminders on basic finance / accounting.. I work in a financial related field but not as a financial expert so it was a good way to understand some basic principle. Very nice. For the price, you can't really go wrong.

I was disappointed. There were less than stellar reviews that I should have listened to. The five star reviews must have come from his family. This is more of a pamphlet than a book. It lists new anvils that you can buy and lists their price and that's it. I really mean that's it! No narrative of what is good or bad. No pictures. No discussion on manufacturers. Just description and price. What makes a $2,000 anvil worth more than a $200 anvil...? Nothing. I mean that quite literally. He lists a NCAnvil (70lb) for $268 and lists a Peddinghaus double horn (77lb) for $750 with no narrative and no explanation. No information at all on old anvils. This is simply a price list and nothing more. It does nothing to help you choose an anvil. Sparsely written and not worth ten bucks.

Honestly, I was disappointed in the book. I guess I had hoping it would show what current new AND USED anvils should be going for. Instead, this was just new anvil prices. Information I can easily get from the internet.

The perfect way for people who don't know how to do their own internet research. You could have gone to the coffee shop in town and got a melinieal to look up the same information in less time than the 20 min it took to read this book cover to cover. This is a guy who started the book telling you to Google it yourself. But a good google price research listing, with an opinion thrown in from time to time. I would tell folks to save their money to put toward their 2"x2" anvil.

I took a class with Lee and find his content and life experience incredibly valuable. Decided to get his book and I love how approachable it is - he breaks down the content into accessible ways, includes various examples (both kinky and non-kinky to illustrate his points and the various ways the 8 fold paths can manifest in our lives) and also makes the information valuable to newbie and an "old timer" like myself valuable. Even though I've been in the community for a while, I learned a lot from his book - it expanded my horizons and how I view a lot of things. Yet he also breaks things down really nicely if you are new and just starting out. I highly recommend this book, and it's nice that you can pop in and out of sections too. I had a lot of "aha!" moments and it rekindled my sacred kink spark too, which was great.
