I actually love these stories and the author. I just hate Random House Inc for putting 7 stories on 5 CDs. Seriously, Random House? this is soooo annoying! try to have your kids listen to a full story, and then 3 chapters from a second story and then ask you to change the CD. then the next disc is two halves of 2 different stories, its just terrible. Even worse, I tried to rip the CDs and put them on the ipod, but the formatting is all off. All of the chapters are mislabled as are the stories and the CD numbers. I'll never look at Random House the same again, so dissapointed in them. We have four sets of these stories, but I refuse to ever buy another thing from Random House

My kids and I love the Magic Tree House books! I can't give this audio book 5 stars, though, because of how Random House formatted the books on CDs. Rather than giving one CD per book, the 8 books are spread across 5 CDs. When my kids are listening to a book at bedtime, I don't want them to have to get up and change CDs halfway through a book, let alone try to find the start of a book in the middle of a CD. I wish Random house had spent the tiny bit of extra money to have one CD per book, and to print a picture of the book cover on each CD.To make matters worse, on this CD set, Random House did not create a separate track for each chapter. Some tracks contain two chapters, others contain one. My poor kids can't find where they left off easily.I'm fixing the first problem by making copies for my kids, including the tracks for each book on a separate CD, and printing labels using book cover images. For those who aren't technically savvy, this isn't the best solution. Random House, please think about the audience (4-8 year old kids) before skimping like this again.

Magic Tree House CD Collection Books 9-16I can't say enough about the Magic Tree House series. They combine adventure with learning. In each story Jack and Annie take a trip in the magic tree house to different places and even different times. They meet famous historical people or experience historical events. Sometimes they travel to the future or interact with wildlife. Annie's strength is her intuition and courage. Jack's strength is his love of books and research. The two kids' strengths combine to support and guide the team.My one complaint when we bought the first 8 stories on CD was that the stories overlap the discs which make it difficult for my son to independently select the story he wants. So I often have to navigate and find the beginning of the story then we have to switch to another disc to finish it. This is still a small hassle. However it didn't prevent me from purchasing the next set in the series. I enjoy listening to the stories too. On first listening they are interesting. With additional listening I realized how much information is conveyed.From the beginning of the MTH stories, four stories are grouped together toward special goals. In this set, episode 8 -12, the kids are earning their Master Librarian cards by completing 4 dangerous adventures. The second four the new librarians are sent back in time to collect 4 lost myths. When they succeed they are rewarded with enlightenment that the stories are about constellations.The stories are read by the author. She has a voice that is easy to listen to. We have some in book form as well for bed time reading. But the CD's are so perfect for riding in the car. We live in a rural area so he is stuck in his car seat for half hour rides quite often. My son is 5 now but I imagine these stories would interest 4 to 10 year olds.

My 6 year old grandson loves the Magic Tree House stories and has learned so many bits of history, geography, science, and culture from listening to these CDs. The narration by the author is just great, very clear and dramatic. I would have given 5 stars, but the publisher should have put just 1 story on each CD. Instead, the stories follow each other wherever the last one left off, so it's hard to find the beginning track if you are looking for a special story. Otherwise, these are wonderful stories and recordings. They are especially good for developing children's listening skills.

The audiobooks are so good. The children love to listen to the stories while we are in the car and, honestly, I love these stories too. The author herself reads the stories and she does a wonderful job. There is a strong educational component to these stories as well. Lots of historical facts made so interesting in these fabulous stories. I have 5, 8 and 11 year olds and all three of them listen with rapt attention. We bought multiple collections up to book 40. Will likely buy more when we finish these. I would recommend this item!

My 4.5 year old LOVES listening to all these stories, and its encouraged him to pretend to be Jack and write things down in a notebook, etc. The only terribly annoying thing is that the CD tracks don't keep all the stories on the same CD, and if you want to rip them to your cloud music/ipod, etc., it creates MASSIVE annoyance at renaming/numbering the tracks for replay if you want to go off of the CD.

We love Mary Pope Osborne books and listen to them on road trips. Mary narrates the books herself so you really feel more connected to the story and to her. My daughter at 4 wanted to be a ninja for Halloween because of the time Jack and Annie visited ancient Japan in the 5th book, "Night of the Ninjas". I love that my daughter is more interested in the adventures of Jack and Annie than in princesses. We love Mary Pope Osborne at our house!

When this activity book is called "Super-Duper Mighty Jumbo" it means it! It is huge. There are 382 pages of activities for kids all dealing with the Bible. I thought that was really awesome. There are activities of all kinds: color by number, dot-to-dot, tracing, bigger/smaller, matching...(pretty much any activity you can think of!)This activity book will keep the kids busy for quite awhile.I received this book for free from Zonderkidz to review through their zblogsquad program. All opinions are my own and a positive review was not required.

This review is given by my 7 year old son. Has all the bible stories in the world, dot to dot, hearts with people in them, sometimes 3 people in them or 2 people but never one person in the heart, mazes, and coloring pages. Noah's ark, Jesus was born in one of the pictures, and it is lots of fun. So if my 7 year old loves it and uses it I agree it is a 5 star activity book.

I bought this coloring book for my youth group to do a coloring night (along with a different coloring book) and they actually liked this coloring book better than the other one and they are in high school! This coloring book is not hard, and the pictures are detailed enough so that the kids were not bored. They stayed engaged in it the entire time and had a lot of fun.

Bought this book for my Sunday School Class. After the bible lesson they usually like to draw and color. This will give them something to do that keeps with the purpose of the class. There is a variety of activities in the book, and the book is very thick. Should keep them busy for a while. There are activities suitable for most elementary age children. The little ones will really enjoy it.

This is a really large coloring book. It has some really fun pictures to color. It isn't super high quality. It is more like the lower end coloring books in paper and print type, but it is very big. Mine arrived damaged, which was really annoying since I was sending it as a gift. It is really the nature of a coloring book cover to get damaged, so I'm not too very upset about that and it didn't change the quality of the book itself. My 5 year old really likes the book and it has provided many hours of entertainment for him.

My 5 year old had recently decided he really enjoys doing mazes at his day care, and our church's children's bulletin would always have "spot the differences", "find the hidden pictures" and other games. So I was very happy to find more than just another coloring book, but rather an engaging activity book. My ds is very high energy, so to find quiet table activities he enjoys is invaluable! And reinforcing stories from the Bible he is learning at Sunday School is a real plus!

I bought it to practice coloring with my 18 month old. This is fantastic and bigger than I expected! I think it's funny how no word are with simple pictures. Guess it's less offensive that way. 1in thick, about 9in wide, and 11 in tall. When my two month old is ready, I'll be buying this again for her!

I bought two of these Bible Jumbo Coloring Books. I kept one and the other one I gave to a friend of mine to color. We are both happy with them. It's amazing how much stress can be relieved just by coloring in coloring books as an adult. I highly recommend it to everyone.

I cannot express how awesome this coloring book is for young children! It is every major story in the Bible from beginning to end. It is just an excellent resource for any Sunday School teacher of young children or a church preschool setting.

Gabrielle Douglas is a two-time Olympic gold medalist. As an older woman, Gabrielle Douglas story inspires and deeply touches me. I remember watching her with such rapt attention and admiration during the summer Olympics and reminiscing how nearly 20 years earlier, I watched Dominique Dawes with the same feelings. Amazing! Nearly two years later, I tune in to watch the Lifetime biopic and my eyes start to tear up as before the opening. Teary-eyed and proud, I made it through the biopic. And now, with her memoir, I am awarded the opportunity to dive deeper into her story. Fortunately, I read her memoir on my Kindle so my tears did not cause any damage. This is an truly inspirational story. It saddens me that young minority women have to endure any form of racism but as I think about it the Civil Rights Movement occurred in 1960s after 200 years of slavery and a systemized form of oppression. A lot of prejudice and racial bias is still buried deep. Alas, what does not kill you makes you stronger. I am glad that Gabrielle is receiving all the accolades as it is well deserved. I hope her story continues to inspire minority girls to enroll in gymnastics and I hope they pay special attention on the backlash Gabby receives and how well she handles it.

My husband bought this book for our daughter for Christmas. Our daughter has done competitive gymnastics since age 6 and is now 11 years old. A lot of hours, intense training and effort goes into this sport and the fact that our daughter misses out on a lot of things that other kids her age gets to do comes up sometimes. This book is a great read and realization for anyone considering the sport or currently in gymnastics that will open the eyes to the fact that the road to success is not always easy, but as the great Napoleon Hill said, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

Gabby Douglas was recently named Associated Press's Female Athlete of the Year. In this novel, Douglas reveals her story of discovering gymnastics and eventually training for the Olympics. Aside from them, readers also get a look into her family life. As a single mother, Douglas's mother works hard to support her daughter's dream, financially and mentally. Also included is a brief look at Gabby's father, who has been absent for much of her life.This is an inspirational novel. Everyone saw Gabby's performance at the Olympics, but in this novel, readers get a glimpse of the real Gabby Douglas: an American teenager who happens to enjoy gymnastics. One thing that I enjoyed about this novel was that it sounds like a teenager wrote it. Normally, this would usually be a bad thing, but in this case, it's not. After all, Gabby Douglas is a teenager, and it made the novel much more personal.I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys the Olympics, gymnastics, or just loves a great story!

This book is a story of triumph over adversity, and how even a little girl in a disadvantaged home can have a big dream come true. Gabrielle is mature far beyond her years (she had to be), and still she is a little girl with big dreams and a love for fun. The book just keeps surprising as she faces one set-back after another. Just when it looks like she can't miss--her own problem with home sickness nearly does her in. She has a wonderful support team that helps her pull through. Her mother and her siblings just keeps giving her the inspiration to reach higher and higher. It seems like a novel, and yet it is real-life, and big dreams do come true. This book will inspire a lot of little girls to "go for the gold". And, if they have Gabrielle's faith...they can.

I think she is a great leader to the next generation of gymnasts. It's not an easy sport. Having people to look up to is a big deal. Gymnastics hold some of my BEST childhood memories and a few of the most crazy ones too. It's more of a mentally-tough spiritual path than just a sport. She has put a little of the meaningfulness inside the secret-planet sort-of world of a tumbler into words anyone can journey there with.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book - it was truly inspirational and something that any age group can learn from. This young lady is very grounded, which shows me that both her families worked as one to keep her focused and on the right track. All the people in her life regardless of the circumstances played a role, some more so than others, but the end result is fantastic. I believe there is much more for this teen as she keeps her eyes focused on her faith and truly revel in the unconditional love of both her families.

I got this book last year and I read it in a few day. It was such a great story about who Gabrielle Douglas was and what her journey was like. It really gives the reader inside look at her life. She is a colorful, expressive writer which makes it a pleasure to read. There are some great pictures inside the book as well and the book cover itself on the back is a poster of her. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants an inspiring read!

Excellent book! Purchased for my 9 year old who loves Gabby Douglas but ended up reading it myself all in one day before she could even start it. Amazing book that gives you a behind the scenes picture of what life was like for Gabby growing up and how hard she had to fight to get to where she is now.

A rather rambling discourse with peppered references all over the show and well out of sequence with the illustrations. He has sparse analytical comment on the reproductions and more discursive comment for the history of the period of the illuminations. Not so much about the Bedford Hours as such, but much mo re about the artistic background of the period. Less disappointment would be incurred if the title more accurately reflected the commentary. Blind Harry and Pasty Pete assisted with the coloured reproductions.

Eberhard Konig, the author of this attractive book, wrote the commentary for the the Swiss facsimile edition of the Bedford Hours. The price of this limited edition is around $17000! For a much more modest investment, this issue will give the reader a good idea of the highlights of this renowned manuscript.The Bedford Hours was produced in the first decades of the fifteenth century, the same era as the Limbourg brothers were active. Despite the illuminator's prolific and high quality output, his true identity is unknown.Konig's text is unfalingly interesting and informative. The book is richly illustrated, often with full page reproductions. Given the modest price of this publication it might be churlish to be overly critical of the quality of the pages as reproduced. There is a certain harshness and unnaturalness in the colors; this is not serious and the reader will gain a reasonable impression of what the original looks like. Alternatively there are copies of the $17000 limited edition still available!

I am an enthusiatic amatuer lover of illuminated manuscripts. I found this book to be both lovely and informative. However, it suffers from one serious flaw - the various plates and illustations are not supplied with figure number references. They identify the images - both those from the Bedford Hours manuscript itself and those from other manuscripts with which the Bedford Hours images are being compared - by listing the manuscript and the folio number for that manuscript - but not with a unique figure number for this book itself. That means that when the text begins discussing an image, you have to hunt through the book in order to look at the picture. This is difficult enough when the image is on a near-by page, but if the text and image are separated widely (which happens often if an image is discussed in more than one part of the text), it is enough to make one extremely exasperated. For example, the Adam and Eve/Paradise minuature is discussed first on page 57, but the image is reproduced on page 91! This seems to be a serious editorial failure. That said, this is no reason to pass up this book - its comparison of the minatures in this manuscript with other examples by the same Bedford Master in other manuscripts and also by other artists is very instructive. But just be prepared to keep a firm grip on your temper as you search for the pictures.

If you have no money to see this out of stock book, you can buy it in the german language.It's price is more or less 10/15% of the prices practiced in the speculative second hand market. I'm speaking of a book with the same quality of wonderful illustrations of the english edition. I have visited over 20 countries and lived in a couple, the Philippines being where I presently reside. Keeping these tips, especially in 3rd world or developing nations is a key to not only your happiness but also your sanity. There are always things we can learn from another culture. And yes, I agree that the people themselves are the gems. There is much diversity depending on which area of the country you're in.I would also add trying the local cuisine, being careful of the cleanliness of the place.
